How to beat AI in content creation

I just stumbled on Seth Godin’s post where he says, if you don’t have anything more useful that AI would produce, then don’t interrupt people with it.

It struck a nerve.

I don’t know about you, but his words got me thinking. Some of my posts are things that are already out there. Sure, I try to write them in a different way. Hopefully, in a more engaging way. But in the future, AI will be able to create better and better content, and there’s a need to up our game.

I asked myself a question you should ask yourself too if you’re a content creator.

What am I doing differently to provide more value than AI?

Seth’s post reminds me a lot about what I’ve been learning recently. You see, in the past month, I started watching Income school on YouTube. They offer tons of valuable free content. Check them out if you’ve not done that before. But one of the things I learned is the need to put something fresh and different into every blog post.

Creating valuable content

Some of Income school’s suggestions for valuable content creation include

  • Expert opinion
  • Survey
  • Doing an experiment
  • Creating a database.

When I think about it, I see these tips are great ways to provide content more valuable than AI. But their suggestions have their challenges.

One problem with expert opinions is finding the right one. Sometimes these expert opinions are a rehash of what is already out there. I’ve even read some posts where I can tell where the expert got their quote. Getting someone who knows their stuff is important when using an expert opinion.. You don’t want someone regurgitating something they quickly read on the net.

Surveys are great if you can find respondents. But unfortunately, getting people to take surveys can be difficult, especially when you’re a newbie without a massive following.

Experiments can be expensive for some niches. For example, carrying out an experiment in the health sector is not always easy. Or cheap.

Creating a database of vital information people need is neat if you can find the information. That is what would make the content valuable anyway.

There’s no doubt about the gains of creating fresh, helpful content. For me, it’s worth the effort.

After now, I will be paying more attention to how I can make my content more valuable than what an AI would produce. Expert opinions and databases would be my likely tools for achieving that.

My goal- make every piece of content worthwhile.

What will you be doing to make your content worth your reader’s time?
